Why do a Brainspotting Intensive in Katy, TX?

Stay With One Focus

Several hours at a time gives your brain room to settle in and process more deeply than a single weekly session allows. You do a deep dive into the content you want to work on and build on it opposed to having a week between sessions where new things will continue to happen in life that can derail the focus of therapy.

Make the Most of Your Time

Yes, an intensive is an investment up front. For some people, doing focused work all at once is a better fit for their schedule and budget than months of starting and stopping.

Start Moving Forward

You have been carrying around the trauma, anxiety, depression or stress for as long as you can remember. An intensive gives you dedicated time to work on what has been weighing on you, process it on a deeper level, and begin building new patterns so you can start enjoying life again.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a Brainspotting intensive?

An intensive is several hours of Brainspotting in one or two days, instead of spreading the same work across weekly 50-minute sessions. We work in 90-minute blocks with breaks in between. Because we're not starting and stopping every week, there's more time to settle in and stay with one focus. Intensives are scheduled on weekends, in person in Katy or online.

How long is an intensive, and what does it cost?

There are three options: the Mini Intensive (3 hours, one day, $700), the Core Intensive (6 hours over one or two days, $1,400), and the Intense Intensive (9 hours over one or two days, $2,097). New clients start with a regular 50-minute pre-intensive session ($200) so we can go over your history and set clear goals. I'm a private-pay practice; if you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement. See all fees on my rates page.

Who should not do an intensive?

I don't recommend an intensive if you're in crisis, have had recent thoughts of suicide or self-harm, are relying on substances to cope, or don't have support in place for the days afterward. Intensives can stir things up, and feeling tired or tender for a day or two after is common, so it matters that you have room to rest. If you're not sure, the 15-minute consultation is the place to talk it through; sometimes weekly sessions are the better fit. If you're in crisis right now, call or text 988, or call 911.

Should I do an intensive or weekly therapy?

A distinction I make with clients is depth versus rhythm. An intensive can fit well if you have one clear focus, feel ready to go deeper, already have some stability, or have a hard time making weekly appointments. Weekly therapy can fit better if you want ongoing support while life is full, or if you're still building coping skills. Some people do both, such as an intensive alongside weekly sessions with their regular therapist.
